Feb 10-Mar 10 Call 2017/18 of the SICUE mobility program

CALL SICUE 2017/2018

Frequently asked questions prepared by the CRUE

What is the SICUE program?

SICUE is a national mobility program that allows a university student to carry out part of their studies at a Spanish university other than their own, with guarantees of academic recognition, achievement and adaptation to their curricular profile.
The SICUE Program is an exchange system, not a scholarship. It used to be supported by the SENECA scholarships from the Ministry of Education, Culture and Sport, but since the 2013-2014 academic year they have not been convened by the Ministry.

When does the application period for the SICUE program open?

The deadline for students to submit their application for the 2017-2018 academic year begins on February 10 and ends on March 10, 2017.

Where are the applications submitted?

Students submit their applications at their home university, through the corresponding computer system, if any, or by submitting form A – Academic mobility application, available on this website, at their corresponding mobility offices, after signing by their coordinator.
How many credits must be passed and enrolled before requesting the exchange?
Have passed a minimum of 45 credits at their home university and be enrolled in 30 more credits, without prejudice to compliance with the internal regulations of the home university regarding the minimum number of credits passed to be eligible for a mobility scholarship, in which case said regulation will be applied.
The credit passing requirement must be met by September 30, 2016.

How many credits must be enrolled at the home university to take during the exchange?

The duration of the stay at the destination university will have a minimum duration of half a course and a maximum of a full course, and the following requirements must be met in each case:
– A complete course: to take a minimum of 45 credits.
– Half course: to take a minimum of 24 credits.
In those cases in which the student has less credits than the minimum required for each type of stay to finish his studies, he may opt for the exchange if he meets the rest of the requirements.

Can I take failed and elective subjects during mobility?

As long as it does not contravene the internal regulations of the home university and the academic coordinator of said university so authorizes it, a maximum of one subject previously qualified as failed may be included in the academic agreement.
In the event that the student wishes to include in the SICUE exchange a subject, at most, that is not found in the degree object of the academic agreement, they may study it in related degrees with which there is no agreement, with the prior authorization of all the coordinators of the destination university involved, limiting said possibility of enrollment to a maximum of one subject.
Electives may be taken from the host university's study plan, not included in the home university's study plan, subsequently incorporating them into the student's file at the home university as electives.

Can internships and final degree projects be completed during the mobility?

If possible. The corresponding credits may count among the minimums established as requirements of the SICUE Call.

Who performs the selection and assessment of applications?

The selection of the candidates in each home university will be carried out by an ad hoc Commission chaired by the representative of the Institution. For the assessment, the average grade of the file will be taken into account with the grades obtained up to September 30, 2016.

When and where are the lists of mobility places granted published?

Until April 27, 2017, on the web pages and bulletin boards of the mobility office or corresponding faculty of the home university.

Can I claim in case the place is denied?

In case of denial of the request, the interested party may claim before the same body that issued it, within a period of 10 business days from the publication of the resolution, when any of the following circumstances occur:
(a) That an error has been made due to a misinterpretation of the documents provided or the assessment of their academic record.
(b) That new documents of essential value for the resolution appear or are provided.
(c) That documents of dubious validity have influenced the resolution.
(d) Other duly justified circumstances.

How do you choose the subjects to take during the mobility?

Once the SICUE mobility place has been granted, the student will have to fill in Form C-Academic Agreements before September 15, 2017, in the event that the mobility agreement is for the first semester or for the entire academic year, and before September 31. October in the case of mobility in the second quarter. It will include the equivalence between the subjects enrolled at the home university and the subjects to be taken at the destination university. The academic agreement is a document accepted and agreed upon by the three parties involved (student, center of origin and center of destination), it will have the official character of a binding contract for the signatories and can only be modified within a period of one month from the incorporation of the student to the center of destination.

Can you enjoy a SICUE exchange more than once?

The same student can apply for SICUE mobility for the second time, as long as it is at a destination university other than the one where they made the first exchange.
On the other hand, the fact that you have already been a beneficiary of SICUE could affect the way your application is evaluated by the coordinators.

Can EU and non-EU students residing in Spain apply for a mobility place?

Yeah

Can a student who is on an exchange with another program apply for a mobility place?

Yes, as long as the enjoyment of the exchange does not coincide with said mobility.
